A coded stitch. A vanished inventor. A revolution sewn in secret.
London, 1863. Just when Clara Henley believes she can settle into her new life as a discreet seamstress and occasional investigator, a strange parcel arrives—containing a penny dreadful stitched together with crimson thread and a name scrawled on the back: Tigg.
Mr Percival Tigg, the reclusive corset engineer who vanished after Madame Locke’s death, is presumed dead. But Clara suspects otherwise. When another coded pamphlet is discovered—this time sewn into the hem of a maid’s uniform—Clara is drawn into a far darker mystery.
Rumours swirl of a clandestine group calling themselves The Seamwrights, who are using printed penny novels to pass encrypted messages, urging revolution among London’s working poor. Their leader? An anonymous figure known only as The Bobbin King.
As Clara, along with the ever-prickly Inspector Flint, descends into the city’s underground printing dens, radical tailoring circles, and secret society meetings hidden behind haberdashery shops, she finds herself torn. What if the rebels aren’t villains—but visionaries?
To solve the mystery, Clara must follow the thread through betrayal, buried guilt, and an unfinished invention that could change the Empire… or tear it apart.
The Penny Thread Plot continues the gripping adventures of Clara Henley in a world of codes, corsets, and conspiracies—where every stitch could be a signature of rebellion.
